Tamsin Okafor
Tamsin Okafor is a pen name. The person behind it runs this site alone and has not tested these vacuums at home; every pick here is built from published test results and the live Amazon listings, and each card names its sources.
The site started for households where the dog sheds more than the vacuum can handle.
Each pick is matched to a floor type and a coat type, then cross-checked against named test results published by Consumer Reports, Reader's Digest, NBC Select and other outlets that run their own tests. Where a published result covers a different model suffix than the one on sale, that is stated on the card rather than quietly ignored.
She tracks filter and battery prices alongside the vacuums, because those are the costs that show up in year two. The running-cost table on this site is built from those scans and carries the date it was taken.

Corrections
- October 26, 2026: The overall pick was listed as the Shark PowerDetect Upright. The collected listings only carry cordless PowerDetect models, so the pick is now the PowerDetect Pet Plus Clean & Empty, model IP3253.
- October 26, 2026: The robot pick was named as the Dreame L40 Ultra on the strength of a Consumer Reports rating. The Amazon listing is the L40s Ultra AE, a different suffix, so the rating is no longer attached to it.
- October 26, 2026: The Tineco Pure One S11 and the Eureka PowerSpeed Pet Turbo were dropped. Neither appeared in the October listing scan, and nothing goes on this page with no listing behind it.
- October 26, 2026: Prices for three Shark PowerDetect Speed listings were removed. All three read under $200 against a sibling close to $600, which does not hold up.
